Meet the founder
Bruce Mamvura | Zim Healthcare Association
I founded Zim Healthcare Association 2005, initially for Psychiatric nurses only. However, as the idea evolved there was a lot of interest from other nurses from different nursing backgrounds, as well as interest from other Zimbabwean professionals working in the health sector. The association therefore now encompasses and is open to other Zimbabwean professionals working in the healthcare system, such as healthcare assistants, social workers, support workers, student nurses, doctors and retired nurses. The idea and aim being to ‘bring us together’, not only as healthcare professionals but as Zimbabweans working together and finding new ways of giving back to and improving the healthcare system back in our beloved country.
I have been a psychiatric nurse since 2002 and I have worked tirelessly in a variety of settings over the past 14 years. Some of my previous posts include:
- Senior Nurse on an inpatient unit in South London
- Senior Community Psychiatric Nurse in Richmond
- Team Sutton Crisis and Home Treatment Teams ( Deputy Service Manager for the Merton and Sutton Teams)
- Team Manager for the Ealing and Hounslow Liaison Psychiatry Team.
- Lead Continuing Healthcare Nurse Assessor in Hounslow CCG
I am very passionate about doing all that I can, to bring all Zimbabwean healthcare professionals in the UK and internationally, whether you are working in the National Health Service or private sector, and I believe in John Wesley’s saying that I must:
“Do all the good I can. By all the means I can. In all the ways I can. In all the places I can. At all the times I can. To all the people I can. As long as ever I can.”
It is my dream, hope and ambition that we would carry the same momentum and help services back in our beloved country.
